Fall Buying Season for Retailers [Infographic]
Here in Baltimore, we’ve survived a long, brutally hot summer. The cool temperatures of Fall are finally here and we are ready to begin preparing our client’s for the holiday season. But not everyone is preparing. According to the infographic below created by Milo last year, you will find that not all businesses experience a peek in sales during the winter months.
A number of retail sectors experience their largest increase in sales during the Fall months of September, October, and November. The end of the summer calls for back-to-school shopping and a jump into (the most exciting time of the year!) back-to-back seasonal festivities- Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the Holidays. So what are people buying in the Fall?
Consumers spend more on motor vehicles, electronics, health and personal care, sporting goods, general merchandise, bars and restaurants in the Fall compared to the Summer and Winter months. Surprisingly, apparel does not see high sales during Fall for back to school. According to eBay last Fall, Mp3 Players, PC Laptops, Golf Clubs, Video Games, Digital Cameras, and DVDs were the top sellers during seasonal Winter buying.
